The 2019 R8 spent plenty of time in Neckarsulm’s gym, beefing up the 5.2-liter V10 to 562 horsepower and 406 pound-feet, gains of 30 HP and 7 lb-ft over last year’s model.
With the R8 Performance, the improvements are smaller, with just 9 HP and 15 lb-ft, bringing the total to 612 hp and 428 lb-ft. The refreshed R8 is on par with its Italian brother, the Lamborghini Huracan, although if power is all you want about car, the amazing Huracan Performante is still king of the hill with 640 hp.
Both engines (570 or 620 hp) respond spontaneously to the commands that come from the gas pedal.
The R8’s single-frame grille is much wider. Strong bridges divide the large air intakes. While slits at the very front of the hood are reminiscent of the iconic Sport Quattro.
